Round 5 Recap


Wow, what a night! Every edition of Barhop Puerto feels more magical, but Round 5 truly had it all — food, laughs, surprises, and pure Puerto spirit.


We kicked things off with Mario, the heart behind El Charro, who welcomed us like family. The ceviche was spectacular, the quesabirrias to die for, and of course, guacamole that set the bar high from the very start. With cold beers flowing and big smiles all around, we knew this round was going to be unforgettable.


Marisol made sure our second stop was a trip across the world without leaving Puerto. We tasted a delicate sake infused with lychee and coconut milk — absolutely spectacular. Add to that some perfectly crisp veggie tempura tostadas, rich unagi rolls, and even a sip of Sapporo beer, and it felt like a night market adventure. Everyone was raising glasses of sake and even learned a few words in Japanese — pure fun.


Inés and her team gave us a warm welcome with pizzas that disappeared in seconds and a fresh, delicious salad that balanced things perfectly. The place had that cozy Italian vibe that makes you want to stay longer, chat, and savor every bite.


And then came the grand finale — El Refugio, where Jesús pulled out all the stops. We were greeted with classic Mexican cantina vibes: tequila shots, guacamole made table-side with flair, chile en nogada that blew our minds, crispy fries, cheese with cilantro, alitas… every single dish a little bite of heaven.


But the surprises didn’t end with the food. The team brought out the electro-shock game — yes, the one where everyone holds hands and passes the current around. Laughter echoed as brave souls tested their resistance .


And just when we thought the night couldn’t get crazier… a Freddie Mercury appeared, ready to party with us. Luckily, Bigfoot (Sasquatch) didn’t show up because we was affraid to be attacked LOL, We just got music, laughs, and vibes so good they’ll be remembered forever.


All of this incredible food of all the 20 spots? Complimentary bites shared with love from each kitchen. We only ever pay for our drinks — everything else has been a little taste of their craft, their way of opening the doors of Puerto Morelos to us. The generosity and creativity of our local chefs and owners make every stop unique, every night unforgettable.

 Gracias to every single one of you who came along. Round 5 brought one of our biggest groups yet, with new friends, returning legends, and a ton of laughs.

We’ve now visited 20 spots in total, and we’re not stopping.

Round 6 lands on Friday, October 17th at 6 PM sharp.
